Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This Privacy Policy explains how Jelajah Masjid ("we") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the jelajahmasjid.com site and its services.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the following data only as far as it is needed to run the service:
- Account data. When you register — through email/password or by signing in with Google — we store your email address, name, and (where available) your profile photo.
- In-app activity. The lectures you save, the ustadz and mosques you follow, your reminder preferences, and the relevant history of your account activity.
- Contributions. The lecture, mosque, ustadz, or photo data you submit through the Contribute feature, together with the submitter name you choose to display (if you choose to show it).
- Technical data. Basic request information (such as access time and device type) needed to run, optimise, and secure the service.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive data or data from minors.
2. How We Use Data
- Providing and maintaining account features (saving lectures, following ustadz/mosques).
- Sending lecture reminders and account-related email (verification, password reset).
- Notifying you by email when your contribution has been moderated and published.
- Displaying your contribution publicly, including the submitter name if you choose to show it.
- Improving the quality, reliability, and security of the service.
- Complying with applicable legal obligations.
3. Basis for Processing
We process data based on your consent when you create an account, to perform the service you request, and for the legitimate interest of keeping the service secure and improving it.
4. Sign in with Google
If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive only your email address, name, and basic profile photo through Google OAuth. We do not access any of your other Google data. Our use of information received from Google complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Sharing Data with Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We use a limited set of service providers to run the app:
- Google — OAuth authentication.
- Infrastructure & database providers — hosting and storage of service data.
- Email delivery providers — transactional and reminder email.
These providers process data only on our instructions and only as far as the service requires.
6. Storage and Security
Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. We apply reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect data from unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. No system is entirely risk-free, but we work to maintain adequate protection.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, update, and delete your account data. You can delete your account at any time through your profile page, through the Android app, or by email. Full details — including what data is deleted and what is retained — are on Delete Account and Data. For privacy-related requests, contact us.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be published on this page along with the latest update date.
